Fire Spiders, Fire Cockroaches, and Fire Ants, the first two don’t exist and the third one could kill a human being instantly!
Accidentally stepping into one of these mounds means you better get ready for a full on Fire Ant assault charging up your pant leg!
Fire Ants are one of the largest, most aggressive, and most dangerous Ants in the animal kingdom! Certain species of Fire Ant like the Red Imported Fire Ant have been known to completely displace other species of Ants and decimate everything in their path! In Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson they are mostly known for creating large mounds in our front and backyards of our homes and businesses and inflicting painful stings and bites!
Fire Ants are known to bite and hold on first and then repeatedly sting in the same or different locations over and over again. The sting from some Ants can leave some pets and animals with more than just a painful wound, stings can turn fatal especially in large numbers!
Fire Ants and all Ants for that matter are social insects which means they maintain and defend a colony with female workers and one or multiple queens. Accidentally stepping into one of these mounds means you better get ready for a full on Fire Ant assault charging up your pant leg! Fire Ants in the Las Vegas Valley are out in full force this spring, they construct their mounds almost anywhere! Fire Ant mounds can be seen protruding from dirt, in the middle of grass, or even out of the cracks in concrete and asphalt!
Fire Ants are scavengers and can be seen carrying things twice their weight or more consisting of nesting materials to food. There is a story on the T.V show 1000 Ways To Die where a group of kids snort Fire Ants and die, this is because the Fire Ants grabbed onto the kids throats and other areas and repeatedly kept stinging until their air passage was too inflamed and they suffocated! So don’t think you can swallow or snort Fire Ants and live to tell about it!
